The purpose and aims as stated in our constitution: "The 2nd MD Infantry, Co. A, a reenactment unit, is a nonprofit organization interested in preserving the authentic history and educational aspects of "The War for Southern Independence" for the enlightenment of both its members and the general public.

FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the revised 2nd MD Infantry, Co A, through participation in reenactments and other activities, shall pay tribute to those gallant men in gray who fought and sacrificed their lives for the "CAUSE" which they believed and knew just! That being, "LIBERTY WITHOUT UNION or UNION WITHOUT LIBERTY!" (from "an ORATION" on the 2nd MD Infantry, by Rev Randolph McKim upon presentation of one of its battle flags to the State House in Annapolis.) We must never forget them...neither the men of the victorious Union nor the men of the defeated Confederacy. For together, they made us the nation we are today. Their sorrowful division, in time, to our inseparable Union. Their "GALLANTRY"; sense of "HONOR AND DUTY"; "LOVE OF FAMILY"; "PRIDE OF HOMELAND"; "DEVOTION TO GOD"..... THIS IS OUR COMMON HERITAGE!!!!
